Allgaeu Airport is getting ready for the future

Planning approval propose different ways: wider runway, new taxiway, expansion of the terminal.

Allgäu Airport is getting ready for the future and will continue to invest in infrastructure and safety field. Therefore, the accomplishment of an air legal planning approval procedure was applied by the aviation authority of south Bavaria, in this procedure every concerned citizen and institution can raise their objections. According to Ralf Schmid, speaker of Allgäu Airport management, the accomplishment /setting-up must be transparent and not restrict. In the coming years, the airport would like to invest about 15 million euro in this project.

On the one hand, in 2025, the number of passengers at the Airport of Memmingen should reach 2.8 million passengers per year, according to a traffic prognosis. On the other hand, concrete measures must be taking into consideration: first of all, the present runway should widen from 30 to 45 metres, at the same time the runway will be more efficient due to the improvement of the taxiway. Moreover the terminal will be expanded with an adequate parking area. For an upgraded safety standard, the instrumental landing system will be converted.

Of course numerous studies about the environmental compatibility and the fauna-flora-habitat were controlled before the procedure was introduced.
