New ski charter to the Allgäu

Joint project: Irish students will arrive in Memmingen and go skiing in Oberstdorf

It was a common exertion with a great result: From January 2011 on charter flights from Ireland will arrive regularly at the Allgäu Airport in Memmingen. On board are students, who will spend one week ski holiday in Oberstdorf and Sonthofen in the “Allgäu” region. About 300 guests will be expected during the upcoming winter season.
Together with the Irish tour operator Topflight from Dublin, who used so far the airport in Innsbruck to bring the students to winter destinations in Austria, the idea came up to offer teenagers also a skiing holiday in the Allgäu.
After the arrival in Memmingen the Allgäu Airport Express will bring the groups to Sonthofen where they will stay at the Allgäu Stern Hotel. The skiing experience will take place at the well-known winter destinations Oberstdorf and Kleinwalsertal. “This project shows that we can inspire international guests for the Allgäu region”, says Mr. Schmid, managing director of the airport in Memmingen. After the successful start all involved parties hope for a continuation and an increase of demand during the next years.
With the new ski charter a new airline will arrive at the Allgäu Airport in Memmingen. Flybe, one of Europe's biggest regional low cost airlines will bring from January till March 2011 every Sunday in total about 300 guests from Ireland to Memmingen.
