Allgäu Airport soon to be a customs airport

Ministry of Finance affirms new status

Customs officers will be soon moving into their own administrative office at the Allgäu Airport. The Allgäu Airport is supposed to become a customs airport as the Ministry of Finance announced. State secretary Koschyk notified Josef Miller, member of the CSU Landtag, of the fact that the airport is to take in the great demanded list of customs airports.

This has the consequences that customer officers are durable present and don´t have to come just for the flights from outside the European Union. Because of that a customs agency will soon be established on the airport which has the necessary facilities. This will help to save money in the future. Up to now the airport even had to pay for the customs check. “That alleviates the possibility to gain more destinations outlying the EU. Also it is a fantastic reassurance for our work so far.”, explains Manfred Schilder, one of the managing directors of the Allgäu Airport, to Miller, who once was the agriculture minister, whom he is thankful for his commitment. In the run-up the airport was inspected by the federal finance office of the North and the South-West who came to the conclusion that because of the going up numbers of Non-Schengen flights a customs office is justifiable at the Allgäu Airport.

The Augsburger Airport instead will lose this status, because of the fact that there is no longer a necessity for a own customs office, said Koschyk.
